Theodora Ciuta

Theodora Ciuta is a Trainee Solicitor at Crushell & Co Solicitors, advising and supporting clients in matters involving workplace accidents, occupational injuries, employer liability, health and safety obligations, and related workplace rights.

Since commencing her traineeship with the firm in May 2024, Theodora has worked on matters involving the physical and psychological consequences of workplace incidents and the responsibilities of employers to protect the health and safety of their employees.

Workplace accident and injury law is informed by Irish legislation, common law duties of care, and European principles governing worker protection, equality, and occupational safety. This legal framework informs Theodora’s approach to practice. She considers not only how an accident occurred but also whether appropriate risk assessments were completed, whether foreseeable hazards were identified, and whether suitable training, supervision, equipment, protective measures, and systems of work were put in place.

Theodora assists with claims involving manual handling injuries, slips and falls, defective or unsuitable equipment, inadequate personal protective equipment, workplace transport incidents, unsafe premises, and exposure to potentially harmful working conditions. Her work includes reviewing workplace documentation, accident records, safety procedures, training materials, employment records, and medical evidence. She also assists with the preparation of correspondence, claims, legal submissions, witness evidence, and settlement documentation.

She has a particular interest in the interaction between workplace injury claims and employment rights. Following an accident, an employee may require rehabilitation, altered duties, reduced hours, workplace adjustments, or a phased return to work. Where the injury gives rise to a disability within the meaning of equality legislation, the employer may also be required to consider appropriate reasonable accommodation. Theodora assists clients where disputes arise regarding these matters or where an employee experiences adverse treatment because of an injury, illness, or resulting absence.

Prior to commencing her traineeship, Theodora completed a Bluebook Traineeship in the European Parliament, where she supported the legislative work of the LIBE Committee, the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs, in its mandate to safeguard rights protected by the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union. She subsequently served as a Junior Policy Fellow with the European Institute of Policy Research and Human Rights, where her research examined the development of Ireland’s remote working legal framework in a comparative European context.

Theodora holds a First-Class Honours Bachelor of Laws degree from Technological University Dublin and is currently completing her professional training with the Law Society of Ireland, with qualification anticipated in March 2027. Born and raised in Ireland and of Romanian heritage, she is fully bilingual in English and Romanian.

Outside of her legal career, Theodora has a keen interest in music and the arts. She holds the Licentiate of the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Piano and continues to play recreationally.
